So many things to clean, so many cleaning products to choose from, and so many toxins to watch out for. Below, I’ll talk about all my favorite non-toxic cleaning products and tools.

I like to keep it simple, multi-purposed, and functional.

Each cleaning job or area doesn’t need its own cleaning product and/or tool.

Cove Castile Soap

My go-to, all purpose bubbly soap *used to be Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Liquid Soap. Mine and Micheal’s favorite scent is the Rose (scent from organic essential oils, not artificial fragrance).

While I still like the product, I don’t agree with all the things that are written on the label. I believe there is only one God – Jesus. There is only one way to Heaven and salvation and a personal relationship with God, and it again is through Jesus alone.

So, I tried Cove Castile Soap. A very comparable product. And of course I chose the tea rose scent.

I honestly think I like Cove better. The rose scent is stronger, which is nice because it smells so good! And, it seems to leave more moisture in my skin.

What I use castile soap for:

– hand soap
– dish soap (for hand washing dishes, not in the dishwasher; although you can use it in the dishwasher and even as laundry detergent)
– body wash
– getting grease stains out of clothes
– toilet bowl cleaner
– any cleaning around the house where I want a sudsy soap
(I water it down with filtered water – generally about 60% soap, 40% water.)

E-Cloth

I love this brand and their technology! It’s similar to Norwex, if you’re familiar with that company. (I have nothing against Norwex. In fact, I use their makeup remover cloths on my face and love them. But, E-cloth is cheaper and available on Amazon.)

All you need is water and these microfiber cloths remove up to 99% of bacteria! ..Talk about non-toxic cleaning.

I’ve had friends ask me if e-cloth really is any different from normal dish cloths, and I’m here to tell you that they are! I’m spoiled now, and rarely ever use my “normal” dish cloths in my kitchen. I usually save the normal cloths for really messy things that I feel like may ruin my e-cloths.

I started out with the Home Cleaning Set, and love it so much that it’s now my go-to house warming gift.

Some of my other favorites from E-cloth are the Window Genie, Table & High Chair Cloth, and I love the Deep Clean Mop for quick floor clean ups.

Folex

Folex never disappoints! I’m still amazed at how well it gets things out. We’ve used it several times to remove coffee stains after our dog or son caused us to spill a entire cup of black coffee all over the rug and couch.

What I use Folex on.

– Carpet (coffee, tea, pet stains – even gets the smell out, etc)
– Cloth furniture
– Fake leather type furniture
– Rugs
– Clothes (yes, I use non-toxic carpet cleaner on clothes. It works great on dirty collars and around the cuff area on long sleeve shirts. The Folex spray bottle has a wide spray which is great for covering large areas that need “spot cleaning”.)

In my experience, it has never bleached out anything. It actually works, and it even leaves your carpet feeling soft and fresh afterwards, unlike some carpet cleaners.

Just spay liberally and wipe off.

P.S. Amazon does sell it, but it’s much cheaper at Lowe’s.

Stain Rescue

This is a non-toxic spot cleaner made specifically for clothes. It works best on fruit stains (think kids).

Warning: I always use it right before throwing the item in the washing machine because I did have it bleach out a shirt once – only because I let it sit overnight. So, I recommend spraying and washing immediately.

Thieves Household Cleaner / Protect Cleaner Concentrate

Whether you use Young Living’s Thieves cleaner or Revive’s Protect cleaner, you’re working with great smelling, non-toxic cleaning products.

My favorite way to use these cleaning concentrates is to dilute them in water according to the bottle’s directions and store in an amber glass spray bottle. I keep a bottle in the kitchen and in each bathroom, so I can sanatize any hard surface in seconds.

These really are multipurpose cleaners that can be used on almost any hard surface and they’re especially great when you’re cleaning during and after someone in the house has been sick.

Favorite Vacuums etc..

Obviously, tools like vacuums aren’t toxic or non-toxic. But, I can’t talk about cleaning without mentioning my cleaning MVP.

With a toddler at home, it’s important for me to have easy and quick access to a vacuum since he’ll pick up anything off the floor. Dead lady bugs are not meant to be eaten..

The hardest part about using the vacuum is dealing with the cord. So, I opted for a cordless stick vacuum when my son started crawling around, and I’m so happy I did!

I vacuum some area in my house at least once a day because it takes less than 60 seconds to grab it, clean up what I need, and hang it back on it’s hook.

Another favorite is my handheld vacuum that I use to clean out:
– cabinets
– drawers
– around window seals
– in the car
– any other small or hard to reach areas

Steam Mop

The last cleaning tool I want to mention is my steam mop.

Again, we’re talking non-toxic cleaning because the sanitizing and cleaning power is in the steam. Just use filtered water and your floors will not only be streak free, but sanitized and chemical free!

P.S. I use a steam mop on my wood floors. I don’t think steam mops are recommended for wood floors. So, I would definitely spot test! But, it hasn’t messed up mine, and I’ve been using it once a week for months now.
